American Discovery Trail
From Pt. Reyes, California, to Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware, this 6300+ off-road trail is dedicated to non-motorized users. The group works to create, manage and promote the trail network.

American Hiking Society
National group which promotes and protects America's footpaths. Includes Trail Conservation and Policy section with current trail issues.

American Horse Council
The AHC is the national legislative representative for the horse industry. The mission of the AHC is to promote and protect the equine industry by representing its interests in Congress and in federal regulatory agencies on national issues of importance.

American Trails
National nonprofit organization which works on behalf of all trail interests to create and protect America's network of interconnected trails.

Back Country Horsemen of America
Nonprofit group dedicated to preserving the historical use of recreational stock in the back country.

Works with other user groups to defend access to trails for motorized recreation nationwide.

Continental Divide Trail Society
This group plans and maintains the 3000-mile Continental Divide Trail from Canada to Mexico.

East Coast Greenway
The East Coast Greenway is a 2600-mile trail connecting East Coast cities from Maine to Florida.

Enviro Horse
Disseminates information to ensure and enhance equine access to public and private lands; sponsors research.

Equestrian Land Conservation Resource
A national voice for a united equestrian land conservation movement which promotes the protection of open land and provides information to those who wish to maintain access to land for equestrian activities.

Equestrian Trails, Inc.
Since 1944, dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of trails, good horsemanship and equine legislation.

Horse and mule trails organized by state.

Land Trust Alliance
National leader of the private land conservation movement, LTA promotes voluntary land conservation and provides support to 1200 nonprofit land trusts nationwide.

National Park Trust
Private land conservancy dedicated to America's parklands, saving significant wildlife, scenic wonders and historic monuments.

Oregon-California Trails Association
Nonprofit organization based in Independence, Missouri, dedicated to education about, preservation and enjoyment of the trans-Mississippi emigrant trails.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy enriches America's communities and countryside by creating a nationwide network of public trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.

Recreation.gov:
A web-based resource for publicly managed recreation sites nationwide.

Recreational Trails Program State Administrators
This section of the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration lists recreational trails program administrators by state, and has many other valuable links.

Roadless Wilderness
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's "Roadless Area Conservation"--roadless area profiles nationwide; information by state; maps.

Rural Heritage
Part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this group is dedicated to the recognition and protection of rural historic and cultural resources, including trails.

Tahoe Rim Trail Association
Nonprofit volunteer group which plans, constructs and maintains the 165-mile single track, multi-use trail encircling Lake Tahoe.

Trails and Greenways Clearinghouse
A project of the Rails to Trails Convervancy, this gropu provides assistance, referrals and information for trail and greenway advocates and developers nationwide.

Professional Trailbuilders Association
Private sector gropu of trail designers, contractors, and consultants.
